What is Florida’s Crescent Lake?
In “the Bass Capital of the World”, the small town of Crescent City is located on Florida’s Crescent Lake. The crescent shape of this pristine Florida lake gives the Crescent Lake its name. Northeast of Orlando and an hour south of St. Augustine, Crescent Lake is a perfect destination to allow for exploring north central Florida. Over eleven miles long, this 16,000 acre undeveloped freshwater lake and connects to St. John’s River on the north coast.
The Crescent Lake Paddling Trail follows the coast of Crescent Lake for almost 18 miles. Because of its impressive size, paddlers are cautioned to stay to the beautiful cypress tree-lined shorelines of Crescent Lake. Famous for its well-known bass fishing and fast boats, this trail near the coast is also the safest way to stay away from the busier parts of the lake. As it is also an American Alligator habitat, this is not the Florida lake for swimming. It’s the perfect relaxing Florida lake location and getaway.
